Dr Niamh Roe Read

Niamh trained at the Dublin Dental Hospital, Trinity College Dublin. Originally from Co. Meath, Niamh is known for her friendliness, kindness, patience and gentle touch when dealing with patients in pain or those who are extremely nervous. Niamh has a special interest in restorative dentistry such as fillings, crowns and root canal treatments. Further training has helped Niamh to keep up to date with all the new techniques to ensure painless, quality dentistry.


Dr Michael Koukoulis Read

Michael graduated in 2003 from the University of Glasgow (Scotland). Following completion of his vocational training in the UK, Michael joined the army for a year where he worked as a Dental Officer. In 2006, Michael completed postgraduate training in Dental Implantology from the University of Warwick (UK) and since then his area of interest lies primarily with the provision of dental implant restorations. Michael has been a member of the Smiles Team from its humble beginnings and he’s proud to have seen it grown to the largest dental care provider in the country.


Dr George David Read

George qualified as a Dentist in Bucharest in 2004 and has been a member of the Smiles Team since 2008. George’s passion is to promote the long-term well-being of patients and he also frequently attends postgraduate courses in Ireland, the UK and the US. George is interested in all aspects of dentistry and his greatest joy is in Endodontics, Aesthetic Dentistry and short term Orthodontics. George is a multidisciplinary part of the team and collaborates brilliantly in order to produce the best possible results for all patients.


Dr Muhammed Israr
Dr Mary Crossling  Read

Since Mary qualified in 2008, she has worked in various places such as Edinburgh Scotland, Queensland Australia and spent some time working in London. While Mary was working abroad she gained lots of experience working within a Dental Hospital, Aboriginal communities and in an Oral & Facial surgery unit. Mary returned to Ireland in 2011 and joined the Smiles Team later that year. Mary’s favourite aspect of her job is working with children and teaching them about good oral hygiene.


Dr Thomas Heidari Read

Tom graduated from Queens University Belfast and completed his post-graduate degree in Royal College of Surgeons London. Tom joined Smiles in 2011 and is extremely hard working, enthusiastic and team orientated dentist who has a high level of clinical standards & commitment in total patient care. Tom’s special interests include cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery and implantology. In 2010, Tom won the well-recognised Smile Makeover Award KSS Deanery and is also a registered provider of award winning “6 month Smiles” cosmetic braces system. Tom completed a Cosmetic Practical course by world-renowned specialist Paul Tipton and trained in Laser & Home whitening by Dr Wyman Chan Wy10 system. Tom in 2011 became a member of the Royal College of Dental Surgeon. For 2012, Tom hopes to be raising money and heading to Haiti to help with the Smiles outreach program in providing essential dental treatment to children and adults that are in need.


Dr Mohamed Alhag (Periodontist) Read

Mohamed received his Bachelor of Dental Science in 1994. Mohamed worked for five years in a general dental practice before commencing a full time Master’s programme in Periodontology and dental implants in the Dublin Dental School and Hospital. In October 2004, Mohamed completed his Master’s programme and in 2009 he completed his PhD in the same field, in that same year Mohamed joined the Smiles team. Mohamed is also a member of the Society for the Advancement of Anesthesia in Dentistry and trained in oral and IV sedation for any nervous or anxious patients. Mohamed has worked exclusively in the field of Periodontics and dental implants for many years and he also has an additional three years of unique specialist training, which provides him with expertise in healthy teeth and gums. Mohamed’s favourite aspect of his job is helping the prevention of tooth sensitivity, bleeding gums as well as the management of receding gums and providing excellent overall oral hygiene to the patients.

Dr Antosh Naidoo Read

Antosh is originally from South Africa and qualified from Stellenbosch University in 2000. Following a year of community dentistry in South Africa, Antosh moved to London and worked in general practice for ten years; during this time she completed a two-year post-graduate course in Endodontics and still regularly attends professional development courses. Antosh loves all aspects of restorative dentistry and is committed to learning new techniques and technologies in order to provide the best care for her patients.

Dr Barbara Villar Saez  Read

Barbara qualified from Complutense University of Madrid (U.C.M.), Spain. Barbara completed various postgraduate programmes in areas such as vocational training, basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation, prosthesis and Endodontics. Barbara has also spent time working as an associated dentist for the NGO "Odontologia Solidaria" in Madrid as well as this; she worked for another NGO "Dentists without limits" in Madagascar. Barbara joined the Smiles Team in 2009 and has since achieved certificates in Advanced Conservative Oral Surgery and postgraduate in Dental Education programme by the Royal College of Surgeons Dublin. Barbara’s favourite aspect of her job is working with patients extensively to achieve the best possible outcome for them. Barbara feels that it is imperative for her to have up to date knowledge, along with her training courses, certificates and diplomas; Barbara is studying at Master’s level in Oral Surgery, Implants and Periodontology.

Dr Ali Afrasiabi Read

Ali qualified from Trinity College Dublin. After spending some time in different practices, Ali joined smiles in early 2007 and has been based in Smiles South Anne Street. Ali enjoys all aspects of dentistry and his particular interests are in restorative & implant dentistry and endodontics.


Dr Saoirse O’Toole  Read

Saoirse is originally from Galway but studied dentistry in Trinity College Dublin. On graduation Saoirse was offered a job as a House Officer in the Dublin Dental Hospital and became a member of the Faculty of Dental Surgeons Ireland, before going to work in a private practice in central London. In London, Saoirse completed Inman Aligner, bleaching and restorative courses. After living abroad and missing Ireland, Saoirse returned home and became a member of the Smiles Team in 2012. Saoirse is currently doing a post-graduate Implant course. According to Saoirse, the best part of her job is working with nervous patients and enjoys transforming their attitude towards dentistry.


Dr Chloe Kassis Crowe  Read

Chloe was born in Chicago and grew up in Dublin. She qualified from Trinity College Dublin, where she was Dental School Convenor and Faculty of Health Sciences Representative in the Student's Union, and won the IDA Tony Costello Award for best undergraduate research project. Chloe came back from Germany in 2011 to work for Smiles in South Anne Street. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry, especially white fillings and composite veneers, and educating patients on how to maintain good oral health. She enjoys practicing her language skills with international patients as she also speaks French, Italian and German.

Katie qualified from Trinity College Dublin in 2008. Katie worked for two years before she joined the Smiles Team in 2010. Katie particularly enjoys a number of aspects of dentistry including Endodontics, crown and bridge and paediatric dentistry. Last year, Katie took part one of the MFDS examination in the Royal College of Surgeons and hopes to finish her membership later this year.


Dr Dan Gruenfeld  Read

Dan graduated from the University of Tuebingen in Germany in 2006. Dan spent two and a half years in the south of Germany in a general practice. In 2009 Dan moved to Ireland and started working with the Smiles Team in 2010. Dan is committed to continuing his professional development and has a particular interest in aesthetic dentistry, the replacement of missing teeth with dental implants and various surgical procedures. Dan is also member of the “German Society for Dental Implantology” (DGZI) and the “Irish Association of Aesthetic Dentistry”.

Lucia Domenech Correcher (Hygienist)  Read

Lucia trained as a Hygienist in her native Valencia, Spain. Since then she has worked in private practices as a Dental Nurse and Hygienist. Lucia joined the Smiles Waterloo team in 2010, where she focuses on oral hygiene instruction, routine scale and polish and has special interest in the treatment of gum disease (periodontitis). Lucia continues her education and she takes every opportunity to attend lectures and seminars to keep her up to date.

Lucia believes that it is important to treat the gums for long term oral health. The prevention of dental problems as the gums are the foundation to all the teeth.

Dr Karen Cuddy  Read

Originally from Galway, Karen studied Dentistry in Trinity College Dublin. After graduating in 2005, she worked as a Junior House Officer in the Dublin Dental Hospital. Karen travelled the world settling in Sydney and working in a cosmetic private practice. Karen enjoys all aspects of dentistry with a special interest in cosmetic dentistry, paediatric dentistry and root canal treatment.


Dr Nuala McMahon  Read

Nuala studied at the University of Glasgow and graduated in 2009. Following graduation, Nuala worked for a year as a General Dental Practitioner in Scotland. From 2010-2011, Nuala took up a post treating children and those with special needs, as well as working as an SHO in a Maxillo-facial department. Nuala became part of the Smiles team in October 2011 and her favourite aspect of dentistry is meeting new people every day.


Dr Aengus Kelly Read

Aengus qualified as a dentist in Dublin in 1994 and has since worked in a wide range of clinics in Ireland and the UK, from corporate surgeries in the City of London to Wandsworth Prison, from HSE clinics in Dublin to general practice in Northern Ireland. He joined Smiles Dundrum in 2011 and is delighted to be back in his native Dundrum. Aside from continuing his dental education over the years (for example in Dental Hypnosis and Acupuncture), he has maintained an interest in academia, completing postgraduate qualifications in Creative Writing and Linguistics. He is currently based in the Dublin Dental Hospital where he is undertaking research into communication between dentists and their patients.


Dr Alaa Aljibouri  Read

Alaa qualified from the Dental School/ Baghdad University in Iraq in 2000. Alaa worked as Junior House Office and Senior House officer for a few years in Baghdad and he travelled to the UK in 2005, where he completed the International Qualification Exams. Alaa joined the Smiles team in 2009, first in the Tallaght branch and then settled in Smiles in Dundrum. Alaa enjoys all parts of general dentistry; and has a special interest in all surgical aspect procedures.


Dr Aiden Burke  Read

Aidan is from Tipperary. He qualified from UCC in 2004 and in 2005 completed a post graduate vocational training year in Edinburgh Dental Institute. He has since worked in general dental practice in Dublin and Thurles. Aidan joined the Smiles team in 2011 and enjoys all areas of general dentistry. He is friendly and caring, allowing patients to feel instantly at ease with him.

David qualified from University College Cork in 2009. David worked in a House Officer position in the Dublin Dental Hospital and the Royal Dental Hospital of Melbourne. In 2011, David was awarded membership to the Royal College of Surgeons Ireland. David is currently studying Medicine with a view to specialise in Oral and Maxillofacial surgery one day. David joined Smiles Dundrum in November 2011 and has a keen interest in oral surgery and dentoalveolar trauma.

In 2006 Thomas graduated from Trinity College Dublin and has since worked in private practices in both Dublin and Galway. Thomas joined Smiles in 2010, he is passionate about all aspects of dentistry and his favourite treatments would be root canal treatment and cosmetic dentistry.


Dr Ramakrishna Kantamneni (Ram) Read

Ram holds a Bachelors in Dentistry from The Rajiv Gandhi Health University, India and completed his study in London in Barts The London School of Medicine and Dentistry. Ram joined Smiles Dental in 2008, he loves all parts of his job and his favourite is working with children and teaching them how to achieve excellent oral health for their future.


Dr Cliondna Ni Mhurchu  Read

After graduating from Trinity College Dublin in 2002 Cliondna moved to the UK where she worked for the NHS in Milton Keynes. Cliondna returned to Ireland in 2004 to work in Clonmel. Cliondna joined the Smiles Galway Team in 2009. Cliondna is extremely enthusiastic about all aspects of dentistry and enjoys attending CPD courses on a regular basis.


Dr Rashmi Rughwani  Read

Rashmi joined Smiles in 2011 after having spent almost ten years studying and gaining experience here in Ireland as well as her native country of India. Rashmi attended the College of Dentistry Manipal from 1994 -1999 and obtained a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. Rashmi says that her passion has always been for dentistry and loves working in Smiles as she says she sees an array of bright and enthusiastic patients.

Maria graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1984. Maria practised in London for fifteen years and returned to Dublin early 2000 with three young children. Maria enjoys all aspects of dentistry, especially Cosmetic procedures and working with nervous patients as well as children.


Dr Martin Robledo  Read

Martin qualified in 2000 at the National University of Rosario, Argentina. Martin joined Smiles in 2010 and his favourite part of being a dentist is establishing trust and trying to break the initial phobia related with the dental treatments. Martin loves listening to the patients and making them feel at ease, as he feels it is a great reward. Martin also enjoys all facets of general dentistry, especially oral surgery and root canal treatments.

Joanna graduated in 2002 from Medical University of Gdansk, Poland. After working in Poland for many years, Joanna joined Smiles in 2007. Joanna’s favourite aspect of being a dentist is putting all her patients at ease. Joanna also has a special interest in oral surgery implantology, aesthetic and prosthetic procedures.

Dr Kostas Efthymiou Read

After receiving his Dental Diploma from the School of Dentistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2001, Kostas worked for two years in general dentistry in Greece and UK. In 2003, he was accepted onto a three-year full-time postgraduate programme in Orthodontics at the School of Dentistry of Marmara University, Istanbul. Kostas graduated in 2006, receiving his Orthodontic Certificate and Master of Science degree; shortly after his graduation he earned the title of the Dental Specialty in Orthodontics in Greece. Kostas is a registered Specialist in Orthodontics and has presented scientific papers in national and international conferences. Kostas joined Smiles Orthodontics in January 2009 and strives for perfection in every orthodontic treatment he provides. Kostas has a true passion for Orthodontics, and is constantly seeking new and innovative ways to make the orthodontic experience more efficient and comfortable for his patients.

Dr Eavan Lawlor  Read

Eavan graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2001. Eavan started work in the HSE in Tallaght for a year and spent six years working in Loughlinstown. Eavan joined Smiles Wexford in 2008 before joining Smiles Bray in 2009 where she has been to date. Eavan has years of experience treating children but she also enjoys Restorative, Cosmetic and Surgical Dentistry. Eavan loves creating a perfect smile for people and finds it very rewarding.

Izabela graduated from Pomeranian Medical University Poland, in 2008. Izabela joined the Smiles Team in July 2010. Izabela’s favourite treatment is root canal procedures and is constantly working on improving her skills in this area. In the future, Izabela hopes to specialise in Endodontics.

Anne graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2007 and completed the postgraduate Dental Boards vocational training in 2008 in Cavan. Anne worked for some time in a private practice in her native county of Dublin, before leaving to travel to Australia where she spent a year working in private and public dentistry. In 2010, Anne joined the Smiles Team and her favourite part of being a Dentist is producing the best results possible for all of her patients.

Dr Eithne Coyne Read

Eithne qualified from Dublin Dental School in 2007 and she was accepted into an additional training year programme as a Junior House Officer in 2007-2008. During this year, Eithne worked in the Accident and Emergency department and gained more experience in the dental specialties of paediatric dentistry, special dental needs, oral surgery & sedation, oral medicine, restorative dentistry and orthodontics. While Eithne was gaining experience working, she was accepted as a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland after successfully completing her MFDS examinations. In 2010 Eithne became a member of Smiles Wexford. Eithne is especially interested in treating children, patients with special needs and oral surgery.

Mujtaba graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2011 and became part of the Smiles Team later that year. Mujtaba has a keen interest in all prosthodontics and all-oral surgery related procedures.

Dr Vidhya Gompa Read

Vidhya studied Dentistry in his native country of India at Christian Dental College. Vidhya joined the Smiles Team in March 2012 and his favourite aspect of being a dentist is meeting new and returning patients all the time. Vidhya has a keen interest in doing extractions and root canal procedures.


Dr Sandra Almeida Read

Born in South America; Sandra completed her studies of Dentistry in the Federal University in Brazil. In 2007 Sandra was awarded the Doctor of Dentistry from the University of Coimbra in Portugal. After years of working in both Brazil and Portugal, Sandra came to Ireland in 2010 and shortly after became part of the Smiles Team. According to Sandra the best part of her job is calming any nervous patients as well as completing all cosmetic dentistry and rotary endodontic treatments.

Dr Ann Gilligan Read

Ann studied Dentistry in University College Cork and graduated in 2003. Ann has been a member of the Smiles Team for five years and has a keen interest in mandibular repositioning devices and adult cosmetic braces.


Dr Grainne Cahill  Read

Grainne studied Dentistry at Trinity College Dublin where she graduated in 1980. After Grainnes years in Trinity she moved to London and returned to Ireland ten years ago. Grainne has worked as a vocational trainer for eight years and practices all aspects of dentistry. For Grainne the best part of her job is helping nervous patients feel at ease.


Dr Louise Canny Read

Louise originally studied Psychology in Trinity College Dublin. After many years working in accounting and insurance decided her passion lied with dentistry. Louise graduated from University College Cork in 2011 and her favourite part of her job is teaching young children about creating and maintaining excellent oral hygiene.


Dr Paul Kielty  Read

Paul was born in Cork; he qualified from University College Cork in 2009 and completed his studies in Scotland with the Longitudinal Dental Foundation Training. During Paul's two-year training he not only learned the fundamentals in general dentistry but also obtained practical experience in hospitals and secured a post-graduate qualification; at the Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery.

Marta is originally from Poland and completed her studies in her native country in 2006. Marta became part of the Smiles Team in 2009 and joined the Drogheda clinic in 2011. Marta has a special interest in esthetic aspect of restorative dentistry and enjoys getting to know her patients.


Dr Ameerah Azeeza Fakim  Read

Ameerah graduated from Trinity College Dublin and completed her post-graduate studies in the UK to pursue foundation training with the Northern Deanery. After working as a National Health Service associate Dentist, Ameerah moved back to Ireland and joined the Drogheda Smiles Team in 2011. Ameerah thoroughly enjoys all aspects of general dental practice with a special interest in Restorative Dentistry, having completed a Certificate in Restorative Dentistry with the Tipton Training Academy in Manchester.

Riona graduated from the University of Glasgow in 2004. Riona worked in Scotland for many years before returning home to Northern Ireland; where she joined Smiles Lisburn in 2011. Riona is now working in Smiles Drogheda where she enjoys treating a variety of patients of all ages. Riona's favourite areas of dentistry are Endodontics and restorative dentistry.

Kathleen qualified from Trinity College Dublin in 1990. Following a period of vocational training in the UK, Kathleen returned to Ireland and has worked as a dental associate since then at a small number of practices. Kathleen's favourite aspect of the job is seeing a patient delighted with their results.

Dr Philip Christie (Periodontist) Read

Philip has over thirty years’ experience in General Dentistry, Periodontology and Form & Function. Philip has a keen interest in general wellness and prevention of disease. Philip has also written and published a very successful book about the first behavioural manual in Dental Care named “Something To Chew On: A Mouth Map To Health”. Philip is currently completing a Master's in Psychotherapy dealing with the 'patient/dentist' relationship and the problems of fear and anxiety in the dental surgery. Philip also provides short-term Orthodontics (Six Months Smiles) and selected implant cases.

Dr Diarmuid Moloney  Read

Diarmuid graduated from Cork Dental School in 2007. He worked for three years in Scotland in a mixed NHS/private practice. While in Scotland, he completed a one-year Vocational Training course and his MFDS examinations at Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. Diarmuid returned to Ireland in June 2010 and took up his position at Smiles in Wexford. Diarmuid especially enjoys Endodontics (root canal treatment) and crown treatment.
