Meet the Team at Smiles Dental

Dr Ali Afrasiabi

In 2006, Dr. Ali Afrasiabi qualified from Trinity College Dublin with a bachelor’s degree in Dental Science. He has also gained an MSc in Endodontics from King’s College London, which he completed with distinction.

Since graduating, Ali has worked in private practice and completed dentistry courses in implant dentistry, restorative dentistry and endodontics. He keeps up-to-date with the latest techniques and clinical protocols in dentistry.

Dr Janusz Banasik

Orthodontist 16407

Dr Janusz Banasik graduated from the Medical University Dental School in Lodz, Poland in 1994. Janusz spent many years working in his native country before moving to Ireland, where he joined the Smiles Dental team in November 2007. Janusz has a great interest in orthodontics, occlusion and tempro-mandibular disorders.

Dr Janusz Banasik has received his orthodontic training from the following institutions:

Dr Ebenezer Thomas

Dr Ebenezer Thomas qualified in 2003 at the Dr M.G.R Medical University in Chennai India. Since 2015 he has worked in different private practices around Ireland. Ebenezer joined Smiles Dental Dun Laoghaire in 2017. He enjoys performing general, emergency and cosmetic dentistry with a keen interst in oral surgery and endodontics. He is also a qualified 6 Months Smiles provider. Dr. Thomas committed to continued education programs and is a member of the IDA. He is also fully qualified in providing full Invisalign treatment.

Dr Mohamed Alhag

Dr Mohamed Alhag received his Bachelor of Dental Science in 1994. Mohamed worked for five years in a general dental practice before commencing a full time Master’s programme in Periodontology and Dental Implants in the Dublin Dental School and Hospital. In October 2004, Mohamed completed his Master’s programme and in 2009 he completed his PhD in the same field, in that same year Mohamed joined the Smiles Dental team.

Mohamed is also a member of the Society for the Advancement of Anesthesia in Dentistry and trained in oral and IV sedation for any nervous or anxious patients. Mohamed has worked exclusively in the field of periodontics and dental implants for many years and he also has an additional three years of unique specialist training, which provides him with expertise in healthy teeth and gums. Mohamed can also provide the Six Month Smiles orthodontic treatment. Mohamed’s favourite aspect of his job is helping the prevention of tooth sensitivity, bleeding gums as well as the management of receding gums and providing excellent overall oral hygiene to the patients.

Dr Denis Hillary

Denis qualified from University College Dublin. He began his career as Junior House Officer, subsequently Senior House Officer and later part time clinical tutor in Dublin Dental Hospital before joining the practice of Kevin Keenan.

He subsequently set up Dun Laoghaire Dental Care in Corrig Avenue, Dun Laoghaire and with the dedicated assistance of his loyal team he has built up a reputation for excellence in the local community. In 2017, Denis and his team joined with Smiles Dental Dun Laoghaire. He is delighted to have now merged the practice and team members with Smiles Dental Dun laoghaire where they continue to enjoy treating their patients to the highest standards.

Andrea (Andie) Lambert

Dental Hygienist RDH RDN

Andrea qualified as a Dental Nurse from Trinity College Dublin in 2006 with distinction. After working as a Dental Nurse with Dr. Denis Hillary she decided to further her education in oral health, and qualified as a Dental Hygienist in 2010 from University College Cork.

After qualifying as a hygienist, Andrea spent time volunteering in rural Ghana as part of a dental outreach team from UCC, where she helped to provide oral health education to nearly 4,000 primary and secondary school students. Nearly 800 people received dental and dental hygiene treatment during the project.

Andrea is comprehensively trained in the treatment and management of gum disease. She is able to advise and instruct on the most appropriate home care for each patient to be able to maintain gum health.

Dr Greg Cullen

Dr Greg Cullen, Smiles Dental BrayDr Greg Cullen B.D.S Graduated in 2005 from Queens University Belfast.

Greg did a vocational training year in Edinburgh, then worked for three years in Derry in General Practice before spending a year in Australia bringing dentistry to the rural communities of Northern Queensland.

Greg spent the next five years working in the NHS and private practice in Manchester. Here he honed his skills in Prosthodontics achieving a Certificate in Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry from the University of Central Lancashire before moving back to Ireland and Joining Smiles Dental in 2015.

Greg has a varied interest in many fields of dentistry including short term Orthodontics (6 month smiles), treating anxious patients and he hopes to advance his enthusiasm in dental implants in the coming years.
