Dr Michael Koukoulis
Dr Michael Koukoulis graduated in 2003 from the University of Glasgow (Scotland). Following completion of his vocational training in the UK, Michael joined the army for a year where he worked as a Dental Officer. In 2006, Michael completed postgraduate training in Dental Implantology from the University of Warwick (UK) and since then his area of interest lies primarily with the provision of dental implant restorations. Michael is also a qualified provider of the Six Month Smiles orthodontic treatment and a dental implant specialist. Michael has been a member of the Smiles Dental Team from its humble beginnings and he’s proud to have seen it grown to the largest dental care provider in the country.
Dr Ahmed Abdelsalam
Dr Abdelsalam started practicing dentistry in Ireland in 2004. He joined Smiles O’Connell Street in September 2008 and became a member of the Faculty of Dentistry in the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) in 2003. He completed a 3-year full-time postgraduate specialist training programme and was awarded a Clinical Doctorate in Periodontology and Implant dentistry from Trinity College Dublin(TCD), (D.Ch.Dent) which included training in conscious sedation. He was admitted as a fellow in the Faculty of Dentistry and Periodontics by The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in December 2014. Dr Abdelsalam was also awarded a certificate of completion in “Specialized Training” (CCST) in Periodontology and Implant dentistry by The European Federation of Periodontology (EFP) in March 2015. Dr Abdelsalam has strong academic interests and worked as a part-time clinical instructor in The Dublin Dental University Hospital (DDUH), Trinity College Dublin and in The Department of Restorative Dentistry and Periodontology there from 2005-2011. He is currently a PBL-tutor in the same institution.
His main interests are advising his patients on the prevention and management of periodontal and peri-implant diseases, both non-surgical and surgical with a multi-disciplinary approach.
Dr Patricia Nalewajska
Dr Patricia Nalewajska graduated from the Medical University in Wroclaw, Poland in 2002. She joined the Smiles Dental team in 2006 after previously working in Poland, she has a special interest in endodontics and all forms of aesthetic dentistry. Patricia is also a qualified provider of the Six Month Smiles orthodontic treatment.
Dr Tomasz Geza
Dr Tomasz Geza obtained his Bachelor of Dental Surgery at the Medical University in Wroclaw, Poland in 2009. Tomasz is a dedicated and skilled professional with experience in all general fields of dentistry. In addition, he completed continuing education courses in order to provide his patients with optimal care. His special areas of interests are dental prosthodontics and oral maxillofacial surgery.
Dr Laima Gylyte
Dr Laima Gylyte graduated from the University of Vilnius, Lithuania in 2009. Since then, she has worked in both private and public sectors in Lithuania and Ireland. Dr Laima has attended various postgraduate training courses such as training in aesthetic dentistry, endodontics and surgical dentistry. She feels it is essential to keep up to date with modern dental knowledge and regularly attends training courses. She likes all aspects of general dentistry and her favourite aspect of her job is working with patients to achieve the best results for them. She is also excellent at treating nervous patients.
Lucia Domenech Correcher
Lucia Domenech Correcher trained as a dental hygienist in her native Valencia, Spain. Since then she has worked in private practices as a dental nurse and hygienist. Lucia joined the Smiles Dental Waterloo team in 2010, where she focuses on oral hygiene instruction, routine scale and polish and has special interest in the treatment of gum disease (periodontitis). Lucia continues her education and she takes every opportunity to attend lectures and seminars to keep her up to date. She believes that it is important to treat the gums for long term oral health. The prevention of dental problems as the gums are the foundation to all the teeth.
Dr Stephanie Rose
Stephanie graduated with Honours from Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2008 having won the General Dental Council’s Prize for Professionalism. Since then she has gained a broad experience working in general dentistry across the UK, Australia and Ireland. Her volunteer work has taken her to Africa where she taught oral surgery to local clinical officers. Stephanie enjoys all aspects of general dentistry with a greater focus on endodontics and oral and maxillofacial surgery and she often attends postgraduate courses to keep up-to-date with advances in the field. She promotes dental health and prevention, has excellent communication skills and finds it very rewarding to work with anxious patients.
Last year she gained a Masters degree in Clinical Anatomy from Queens University Belfast. Her long term career ambition is to become an oral and maxillofacial consultant and this encouraged her to return to medical school to gain a third degree. She is currently in her third year of study.
Dr Chris Ford
Dr Chris Ford BChD (Leeds) MFDS rcs (Eng) MB BCh BOA BA (Dublin)
Chris qualified from Leeds Dental Institute in 1995 and has been practising in the UK, Australia and Ireland for the past 20 years working in hospital, community and general practice posts.
After qualifying from Leeds University he completed UK vocational training and was awarded Membership of the Dental Faculty of the Royal College of Surgeons (England) in 2004. He studied Medicine at Trinity College Dublin obtaining his degree in 2008.
Chris has extensive experience in all aspects of general dentistry and has completed a postgraduate qualification in dental sedation and pain management. In Australia, he taught final year dental students from the University of Queensland and worked in a clinic treating patients with special needs. He is a member of the Society for the Advancement of Anaesthesia in Dentistry and the Irish Society of Dental Sleep medicine.
Dr Shahzad Baig
Dr Shahzad Baig completed his degree in dentistry in 2007 from the University of Health Sciences, Pakistan. Following graduation, Shahzad worked intensively for three years in a hospital and private practice setting, before embarking on a masters degree in dental materials at the Queen Mary University of London. With a passion for dental science, he was accepted on a fully funded PhD in dental materials science at the Dublin Dental University Hospital, Trinity College Dublin which he recently completed.
Having committed to postgraduate student life for several years, Shahzad is keen to resume practice in clinical dentistry. On a personal level, Shahzad is a very sociable and energetic individual, always looking forward to meeting new people every day. His naturally positive attitude and excellent communication skills include an ability to speak English, German and Urdu fluently.
