Dr Ali Afrasiabi obtained his Bachelor of Dental Science from Trinity College Dublin in 2006 and his Master’s in Endodontics from King’s College London.

As well as complex endodontic cases, Dr Ali has a special interest in restorative and cosmetic dentistry.

A popular member of the Smiles Dental Dundrum and South Anne Street team, Dr Ali enjoys keeping up-to-date with the latest techniques and clinical protocols in dentistry.

Training and qualifications

Anastasios graduated from the Dental School of Athens, Greece in 1986, before completing a three-year master’s programme in orthodontics at Lund University, Sweden in 1993. His experience includes working in private practice and at Health Service Executive, Dublin, for eight years, where he treated patients with a variety of severe malocclusions. He continues to be amazed at the results that modern orthodontic treatments can achieve. Anastasios has developed a patented technique using orthodontic implants or micro screws to correct crowding, without needing to extract teeth. His technique won an international award for novelty from Primary Care Trust in 2014.

BDS, MSc

Training and qualifications

Dr. Fernanda Roese Mesquita is a dedicated general dentist with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and a Master of Science (MSc) degree. She graduated in 2005, having studied at PUC-RS in Brazil and Fernando Pessoa University in Portugal.

Treatments offered

Fernanda has a special interest in Invisalign, C-fast, preventive orthodontics, and periodontics.

Since joining the Smiles Dental / Bupa Dental Care team in 2018, she has demonstrated a compassionate approach to patient care, treating each person with genuine understanding, ensuring they feel heard, respected, and comfortable at every stage of their dental journey.

Fluent in both English and Portuguese, Fernanda values clear communication and trust with her patients.

Outside of work, she enjoys spending quality time with her family, creating lasting memories, and cherishing every moment together.

Training and qualifications

Dr Martin Robledo qualified in 2000 at the National University of Rosario, Argentina. Martin joined Smiles Dental in 2010 and his favourite part of being a dentist is establishing trust and trying to break the initial phobia related with the dental treatments. Martin loves listening to the patients and making them feel at ease, as he feels it is a great reward. Martin also enjoys all facets of general dentistry, especially oral surgery and root canal treatments.

Training and qualifications

Dr. David Hone was born and raised in Dublin. He qualified in Medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1990. After completing his internship, he returned to study dentistry at Trinity College Dublin, graduating with an Honours Degree in 1994.

He went on to complete further training in oral and maxillofacial surgery in the UK, receiving Fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons London in both dental surgery and general surgery in 1997. He then undertook a three-year Specialist Orthodontic Training Program at Guy’s Hospital, London, completing it in 2002. That same year, he was awarded Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Dr. Hone worked as a specialist and tutor in orthodontics at St. James’s Hospital and the Dublin Dental Hospital from 2002 to 2006. He later established and ran his own successful orthodontic practice before joining the Smiles Dental Swords team in early 2020.

Committed to continuous professional development, Dr. Hone remains up to date with advances in orthodontic techniques and enjoys mentoring younger clinicians.

Treatments offered

He offers a full range of orthodontic treatments for both children and adults and has a particular interest in TAD-supported orthodontics and interceptive orthodontics. He finds orthodontics deeply satisfying, especially the opportunity to help patients achieve the smiles they want and deserve.

Outside of work, Dr. Hone enjoys hiking, golf, and tennis in his free time, and spending quality time with friends and family.

B.Dent Sc BDS 2017

Training and qualifications

Dr Kate graduated Queens University Belfast with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) in 2017. She has been working with Smiles Dental for 5+ years.

Treatments offered

Kate provides all general dentistry treatments and has a special interest in extractions. She is also an Invisalign clear aligner provider (teeth straightening)

A bit about Kate

She likes to look after patients by making their experience as calm and comfortable as possible. She aims to explain everything in a way that’s easy to understand, and create a friendly, relaxed environment. She findd it really rewarding when patients leave feeling less nervous and more confident about coming to the dentist  

Dr Kate plans to do develop her knowledge and experience further with extra training for minor oral surgery procedures and dental implants.

Outside of dentistry, Kate is involved in sports both on and off the field, playing hockey for Rathgar Hockey Club and watching rugby, golf, GAA whenever she can.

B.Dent Sc BDS, 2019, Trinity College Dublin

Training and qualifications

Astabrk enjoys restorative and endodontic dentistry and has a particular interest in the diagnosis, treatment and management of oral cancers. Astabrk graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2019. During his studies, he was involved in conducting research, audits and presentations as well as intensive clinical training in all aspects of dentistry. Astabrk has experience in oral surgery and oral medicine but particularly enjoys restorative and endodontic dentistry. He has completed multiple electives in Tallaght University Hospital, St James’s Hospital and dental hospitals in the maxillofacial and oncology units . His greatest area of interest is the diagnosis, treatment and management of oral cancer.

Dr Caroline Fleming is a highly experienced dentist offering implant dentistry, oral surgery, periodontal treatments and more.

Training and qualifications

BDent. Sc. (Hons.), MFD RCS (Ire.), RCSEd

Dr Caroline Fleming qualified from Trinity College Dublin in 2002 with an honours degree.
Caroline has worked in various hospital roles and in private practice in both London and Dublin.
Caroline has a particular interest in oral Surgery and dental implants, having gained extensive experience as both a senior house officer and speciality doctor in oral and maxillofacial surgery in the U.K.
She is a member of the Royal College of Surgeons, has been awarded a certificate in periodontology and is Royal College of Surgeons. She holds a RCSEd membership in Implant Dentistry.

Caroline has been placing and restoring dental implants for over 10 years. Caroline is known for her caring manner and is particularly experienced in undertaking extractions for nervous patients, regularly performing intravenous sedation following formal training with Sedation, Analgesia and Anxiety management for Dentistry (SAAD) in the U.K.

Training and qualifications

Dr Shkre Agkhre received his honours degree in Dental Science from the prestigious university of Benghazi in 2010. After spending four years as a general dentist, Shkre went on to complete an additional five years of specialist training. During this time he perfected the art and science of aesthetic and reconstructive dentistry (prosthodontics).

In 2020, Shkre completed his specialist training and obtained a doctorate in Prosthodontics from Trinity College, Dublin. In August of the same year, he began working as a prosthodontist. Shkre receives referrals from general dentists and other dental specialists to assist them in the management of complex and challenging treatments.

Shkre is devoted to his profession and never stops learning new and innovative techniques to bring to our patient community. He is both skilled and experienced in the provision of high quality solutions, and treating patients’ often challenging dental problems.

Shkre is sensitively attuned to the concerns of his patients. He combines his scientific background with an artistic eye to bring the highest quality of personalised care to each of his patients.

Dr. Camile Simioni is a dedicated general dentist with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS), Master of Science (MSc) degree, and PGDip in Implantology. She graduated in 2012, having studied at UPF-RS and Herrero University-RS in Brazil, and Egas Moniz University in Portugal.

Treatments offered

Camile has a special interest in minor oral surgery and general treatment under conscious sedation. Since joining the Smiles-Bupa team in 2023, she approaches patient care with compassion, treating everyone with empathy and ensuring they feel heard and comfortable throughout every step of their dental journey.

Fluent in both English and Portuguese, Camile values building trust through kindness and clear communication. In her free time, she enjoys spending quality time with her family and friends.

Training and qualifications

Dr Angelina Deyanova graduated from the Medical University of Plovdiv, Bulgaria. During her studies, Angelina expanded her skills by completing two Erasmus+ programs in CEU San Pablo, Madrid and Wroclaw Medical University in Poland, where she gained further experience with pediatric patients and was able to develop her fluency in Spanish and Polish.

Angelina has a master’s degree in General Dentistry as well as postgraduate traineeship experience in the University of Valencia, where she developed a passion for periodontology and oral medicine. Angelina is popular with our patient community at Smiles Dental in Dundrum, and her kindness and patience makes her a valued member of our team.

Training and qualifications

Dr Mohamed Alhag received his Bachelor of Dental Science in 1994. Mohamed worked for five years in a general dental practice before commencing a full time Master’s programme in Periodontology and Dental Implants in the Dublin Dental School and Hospital. In October 2004, Mohamed completed his Master’s programme and in 2009 he completed his PhD in the same field, in that same year Mohamed joined the Smiles Dental team.

Mohamed is also a member of the Society for the Advancement of Anesthesia in Dentistry and trained in oral and IV sedation for any nervous or anxious patients. Mohamed has worked exclusively in the field of periodontics and dental implants for many years and he also has an additional three years of unique specialist training, which provides him with expertise in healthy teeth and gums. Mohamed’s favourite aspect of his job is helping the prevention of tooth sensitivity, bleeding gums as well as the management of receding gums and providing excellent overall oral hygiene to the patients.

Toni McAdam is a registered dental hygienist, graduated from University College Cork in 2021 with a passion for preventive oral health care and patient education.

Treatments offered

Her role focuses on providing comprehensive hygiene treatments, including scaling and polishing, periodontal therapy, oral health assessments and tailored oral hygiene advice for all ages.

She is also trained to manage gingivitis and periodontal disease, and deliver preventive care that supports long-term dental wellness.

What Toni loves most about dental hygiene is building lasting relationships with patients, helping them feel comfortable and informed while empowering them to take control of their oral health. She feels that there’s something incredibly rewarding about seeing someone’s confidence grow alongside their smile.

Looking ahead, Toni is passionate about staying at the forefront of modern hygiene care, continually developing her skills through ongoing professional development.

Outside of the clinic, she enjoy spending time with family and friends, staying active outdoors, and keeping up with the latest in health and wellness.

Dr. Angelko Ashtalkoski, known by his patients as Angel, is a dedicated and experienced dentist who brings a global perspective and a strong foundation in dental care to his practice.

Originally from Macedonia, Angel began his journey in dentistry by studying dental technology from 1999 to 2003. He later earned his master’s degree in dental medicine from the Medical University Plovdiv in Bulgaria, graduating in 2009.

Dr. Angelko’s commitment to excellence is evident in his pursuit of advanced education and training. He completed a two-year course in advanced practical occlusion and restorative dentistry with esteemed professor Paul Tipton, gaining in-depth knowledge and expertise in these areas. His dedication to his craft is further demonstrated by his membership in the British Academy of Restorative Dentistry (BARD).
