This is one of the best dentists. I’ve been to many leaving and terrified to go back but I’ve returned to Smiles. All their dentists are amazing, they do go above and beyond, they keep their skills updated to provide an amazing service. They are calm and do not judge, they won’t poke and prod unnecessarily.
They will make you trust dentists again; it’s like they want you to love your teeth and to smile with confidence.
Great with kids too. Also, if you tell them, you are in pain, they actually look for the cause even if not clear which is essential when dealing with kids who can only explain they have pain in mouth near tooth.

I had a root canal at Smile Dental Cork. Rob was my dentist and was an absolute professional. He took plenty of time before the procedure to explain exactly what he’d be doing, what I should expect and gave me time to ask questions.

He went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable the whole time. The treatment went perfectly and my pain was instantly relieved. I had virtually no pain from the treatment after and was eating normally that night. My first consultation was also excellent. The dentist was thorough and gave me all my options.

I just wanted to say thanks very much to Geenan. My daughter Aisling was with her this morning for the first time and my husband said Geenan made the visit to the dentist so easy and she was very kind to Aisling. She was very nervous prior to this about going back to the dentist so we are both very relieved now. We will be sure to recommend her to any friends or family who are looking for a dentist. Dr Kathleen Byrne qualified from Trinity College Dublin in 1990. Following a period of vocational training in the UK, Kathleen returned to Ireland and has worked as a dental associate since then at a small number of practices. Kathleen’s favourite aspect of the job is seeing a patient delighted with their results.

A Cork woman, Julia graduated in 2012 from UCC. She then spent the next period of her life in Cornwall in the NHS, working as a general dentist. She left there to return to Ireland in 2015. Julia keeps up to date in the trends in dentistry with regular CPD and maintains her professional development with dental workshops. Outside of dentistry, Julia loves Six Nations rugby, dancing and the theatre. She hasn’t any strong feelings about hurling!

Dr Khalid Alfarsi is a specialist orthodontist with an array of qualifications, holding 11 prestigious credentials in the field of orthodontics. He earned his dental degree from University College Cork and went on to complete a three-year postgraduate program in orthodontics, where he also obtained a master’s degree in the specialty.  

His qualifications span multiple royal colleges, including the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, England, Glasgow, and Edinburgh. He holds diplomas such as the MFDS (Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery) and MORTH (Membership in Orthodontics) from RCPS Glasgow & RCSEd and RCS England as well as the highly regarded FFD (ORTHO) (Fellowship in Orthodontics) RCSI. Additionally, Dr Khalid is a board-certified orthodontist, making him one of the highest qualified professionals in his field in Ireland.

Dr Khalid is registered on the Specialist List in Orthodontics with the Dental Council of Ireland, affirming his expertise and dedication to his profession. 

Dr Khalid is also a member of the Orthodontics Society of Ireland, the European Orthodontics Society, and the American Association of Orthodontists. Additionally, he holds the esteemed title of Fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontists, highlighting his commitment to excellence and international recognition in orthodontics.

Training and qualifications

Dr Mohamed Alhag received his Bachelor of Dental Science in 1994. Mohamed worked for five years in a general dental practice before commencing a full time Master’s programme in Periodontology and Dental Implants in the Dublin Dental School and Hospital. In October 2004, Mohamed completed his Master’s programme and in 2009 he completed his PhD in the same field, in that same year Mohamed joined the Smiles Dental team.

Mohamed is also a member of the Society for the Advancement of Anesthesia in Dentistry and trained in oral and IV sedation for any nervous or anxious patients. Mohamed has worked exclusively in the field of periodontics and dental implants for many years and he also has an additional three years of unique specialist training, which provides him with expertise in healthy teeth and gums. Mohamed’s favourite aspect of his job is helping the prevention of tooth sensitivity, bleeding gums as well as the management of receding gums and providing excellent overall oral hygiene to the patients.

John graduated from the University of London in 1986 and holds both a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) and a Masters in Dentistry (MSc). He has been a practicing dentist for over 40 years.

John has a passion for music from the 60’s and 70’s on vinyl and has an amazing collection. He also enjoys reading about and visiting historic sites.
