Training and qualifications

Dr. David Hone was born and raised in Dublin. He qualified in Medicine from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 1990. After completing his internship, he returned to study dentistry at Trinity College Dublin, graduating with an Honours Degree in 1994.

He went on to complete further training in oral and maxillofacial surgery in the UK, receiving Fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons London in both dental surgery and general surgery in 1997. He then undertook a three-year Specialist Orthodontic Training Program at Guy’s Hospital, London, completing it in 2002. That same year, he was awarded Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Dr. Hone worked as a specialist and tutor in orthodontics at St. James’s Hospital and the Dublin Dental Hospital from 2002 to 2006. He later established and ran his own successful orthodontic practice before joining the Smiles Dental Swords team in early 2020.

Committed to continuous professional development, Dr. Hone remains up to date with advances in orthodontic techniques and enjoys mentoring younger clinicians.

Treatments offered

He offers a full range of orthodontic treatments for both children and adults and has a particular interest in TAD-supported orthodontics and interceptive orthodontics. He finds orthodontics deeply satisfying, especially the opportunity to help patients achieve the smiles they want and deserve.

Outside of work, Dr. Hone enjoys hiking, golf, and tennis in his free time, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Dennis Ryan is originally from County Cork. He graduated from UCC Dental School in 1996. He has worked in general dentistry in the UK and Australia. Dennis enjoys all areas of general dentistry.

Geenan Alrubae qualified with honour degree BDS from University of Baghdad and College of Dentistry. She has worked in general dentistry in Baghdad, Abu Dhabi and Dublin. Geenan holds a certificate from the American Academy of continuing Medical Education. She also undertook Dental training and Skill Evaluation from American Safety And Health Institute. She has conferred membership with Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland. Geenan enjoys all aspects of general dentistry. In her spare time she likes cycling, astrology, numerology and cooking.

Training and qualifications

Dr Liam O’Sullivan qualified from University College Cork, (NUI) in 1981 and practiced in the UK in general practice for a number of years. On returning to Ireland, he set up a private practice in 1990, offering routine, advanced restorative, cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics. This included the taking of continuing professional education courses in all of these areas including post-graduate studies in Trinity College Dublin.

Treatments offered

The greatest problem facing the general dentist is the cosmetic/aesthetic replacement of lost or very damaged teeth. Therefore, a fascination with the possibilities offered in the use of dental implants to permanently replace missing teeth took hold in 2004. “This emerging area of dentistry can provide solutions and aesthetic results that could only be dreamed of when I first qualified.” There followed a series of courses in Europe, culminating in studies for the Diploma in Implant Dentistry, at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in London. Liam has been working with Smiles Dental at Waterloo Road, since 2011.

Dr Ernesto Bracamonte completed his bachelor’s degree in dental science at Central University of Venezuela in 2008. His early interest in surgical procedures led him to obtain a Diploma in Oral Surgery in 2009 at Carabobo University, Valencia-Venezuela. He also took on an internship in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the OMF department at Dr Domingo Luciani East General Hospital, Caracas-Venezuela in 2011.

Following his internship in Venezuela, Dr Bracamonte completed surgical training in Sao Paulo, Brazil and began a high specialty level residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Paulistano Hospital in 2013, which he completed in 2016.Currently, Dr Bracamonte is an active member of the Brazilian Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (SOBRACIBU). 

After relocating to Europe, Dr Ernesto finished his Master of Science in Clinical Dentistry at Fernando Pessoa University, Portugal in 2020. since 2022 he has worked in numerous private practices in Ireland.

As well as being a talented general dentist, Dr Bracamonte holds a special interest in oral surgery, dental implants with medium and high rehabilitation complexity, bone grafts, sinus lifts, and single and multiple implant placement surgeries.

He is constantly up-skilling in Ireland as well as completing actualisation courses in USA, Portugal and Brazil to provide the best possible treatment for his patients.

Dr Maria holds a dental degree from the Carol Davila University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Bucharest, Romania.

Dr Maria is a dedicated general dentist committed to delivering high-quality, patient-focused care and has experience across a wide range of dental treatments.

She has a particular interest in restorative dentistry and preventive care. She is passionate about creating a comfortable environment for patients while providing clear, personalised treatment plans to ensure the highest standard of care.

Dr Denny graduated from University College Cork with honours in 2020 and joined the Smiles Dental Balbriggan team in 2021. Dr Denny enjoys all aspects of dentistry and prides himself in making the patient experience as comfortable as possible. Dr Denny is also fully qualified provider of Invisalign Go.
