Smiles Dental Wexford – Meet the team
Dr Diarmuid Moloney graduated from Cork Dental School in 2007. He worked for three years in Scotland in a mixed NHS/private practice. While in Scotland, he completed a one-year Vocational Training course and his MFDS examinations at Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. Diarmuid returned to Ireland in June 2010 and took up his position at Smiles Dental Wexford. Diarmuid especially enjoys endodontics (root canal treatment) and crown treatment.
Dr Morgan O’Sullivan completed an Honours Science Degree in 2001 before embarking on a career in dentistry. He qualified from Manchester University in 2008 and worked for one year in a mixed private/NHS practice in the UK. He returned to Ireland in August 2009 and worked in a private practice in County Carlow before joining the Smiles Dental team in January 2011. Morgan especially likes treating nervous patients to reduce fear and dental phobia.
Dr Yusuf Patel graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1982. On completion of his studies he spent 12 months working and travelling in South Africa where he was born. In 1983 he moved to England where he worked in an NHS practice for four years. During this time he yearned for the African sun and returned to Cape Town where he lived for the next 12 years. His time there was spent both in private practice and teaching undergraduate dentistry at the University of Western Cape. In 1999 Yusuf moved to England and worked in general practice. He has now relocated to Ireland joining Smiles Dental and enjoys carrying out all aspects of dentistry.
Specialist Orthodontist
Dr. Khalid Alfarsi is an accomplished specialist orthodontist with an impressive array of qualifications, holding 11 prestigious credentials in the field of orthodontics.
Dr Alfarsi earned his dental degree from University College Cork and went on to complete a three-year postgraduate program in orthodontics, where he also obtained a master’s degree in the same specialty. His qualifications span multiple royal colleges, including the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, England, Glasgow, and Edinburgh.
He also holds diplomas such as the MFDS (Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery) and M ORTH (Membership in Orthodontics) from RCSEng & RCPS Glasgow & RCSEd and RCSI Ireland, as well as the highly regarded FFD (ORTHO) (Fellowship in Orthodontics) and RCSI in Ireland. Additionally, Dr. Alfarsi is a board-certified orthodontist making him one of the highest qualified professionals in his field in Ireland.
Dr Alfarsi is registered on the specialist list in orthodontics with the Dental Council of Ireland, affirming his expertise and dedication to his profession.
Outside of work, Dr. Alfarsi is passionate about football, playing up to four times a week, and is an avid supporter of Liverpool FC.
Sarah O’Brien qualified as a dental nurse in 2013 and worked in a private dental practice for two years. She then returned to Cork University Dental School and Hospital, where she trained and qualified as a dental hygienist in 2017. Sarah gained experience in the dental field over the years as both a dental nurse and a hygienist, especially when working with nervous patients. Sarah treats all her patients with empathy and compassion while using a gentle but thorough approach for their hygiene appointments. IDC 15RDH2017.
