With three years of clinical practice in both public and private dental sectors, Helen has rich experience taking care of people of all ages, especially children, to assist with their oral hygiene maintenance. Helen is passionate about periodontics and would like to make every effort to educate clients about periodontitis prevention and improvement of gum health.

Helen deeply believes that oral health is an integral part of general health and that oral disease prevention is just as important as treatment. Dr Grainne Gillespie is an experienced dentist providing treatment for patients of all ages at Smiles South Anne Street. Dr Gillespie qualified as a dentist from Trinity College Dublin with a first class honours degree. She was awarded the Trinity College Gold Medal, the Dental Council Prize in Restorative and Periodontal Dentistry and the Dental Council Prize in Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine and Oral Pathology. Dr Shkre Agkhre received his honours degree in Dental Science from the prestigious university of Benghazi in 2010. After spending four years as a general dentist, Shkre went on to complete an additional five years of specialist training. In 2020, Shkre completed his specialist training and obtained a doctorate in Prosthodontics from Trinity College, Dublin. In August of the same year, he began working as a prosthodontist. Dr. Gerald Roarty has over 20 years’ experience providing general dentistry and holds an honours degree from Trinity College Dublin. Gerald is professional with a good sense of humour. Dr. Jalal Khan graduated from Trinity College Dublin. He provides a variety of dental procedures, such as fillings, surgical wisdom teeth extractions, crowns, bridges, veneers, root canal, composite bonding and teeth whitening. He has a strong interest in cosmetic dentistry to improve the aesthetics of your smile.

Jalal is experienced in treating nervous patients and aims to put them at ease. He is dedicated to improving his skills and knowledge, and has undertaken a variety of dentistry courses in Ireland as well as abroad.

Heraclio started his dentistry journey in 1992 in Brazil. He graduated in 1996 and was quickly accepted into an orthodontics program. Since then, Heraclio has gained over 20 years of experience in orthodontics.

In 2013 he undertook a master’s degree in TMJ disorders and orofacial pain, and in 2017 relocated to Ireland. Shortly after, he decided to immerse himself in further training in Portugal, allowing him to practise dentistry across Europe. Bruno Reis Biography: In 2004 Dr Bruno Reis graduated from Rio de Janeiro State University with a bachelor’s degree in Dental Sciences. He also has a MSc graduation in Dental Medicine from UFP (Porto), a Postgraduation degree in Temporomandibular Disorders and Orofacial Pain from Rio de Janeiro Federal University and an Implantology course from DCI (Porto).
Since his graduation, Dr Reis has worked mainly in private practices but has also acquired a vast experience in Oral Surgery during his working time at a public trauma hospital in Brazil.

Dr Reis has acted as Substitute Professor at the Rio de Janeiro State University and has worked along with Prof Florence Sekito at her private practice for over 5 years, teaching and treating Orofacial Pain and Temporomandibular Disorders.

Dr Denny graduated from University College Cork with honours in 2020 and joined the Smiles Dental Balbriggan team in 2021. Dr Denny enjoys all aspects of dentistry and prides himself in making the patient experience as comfortable as possible. Dr Denny is also fully qualified provider of Invisalign Go.

Anthosh is originally from South Africa and qualified from Stellenbosch University in 2000.

Following a year of community dentistry in South Africa, Anthosh moved to London and worked in general practice for 10 years. During this time, she completed a two-year postgraduate course in Endodontics and still regularly attends professional development courses.

In 2011, she moved to Ireland with her Irish husband where they have now settled with their two children. Anthosh loves all aspects of restorative dentistry and is committed to learning new techniques and technologies to provide quality care for her patients.

Kate enjoys building relationships with her patients and ensuring they’re relaxed and comfortable throughout their journey. She enjoys general dentistry and has an interest in cosmetic dentistry. Kate graduated from Queen’s University Belfast in 2017 and completed her vocational training in general practice in Newcastle, England. She spent two years working in a mixed NHS and private family practice in Edinburgh, before returning to Ireland in 2020 and joining our team. Kate has completed courses focused on a variety of treatments including Invisalign and composite bonding.

Dr Leonardo Collazo trained at Trinity College Dublin and received his Bachelor of Dental Science and Bachelor of Arts in 2019. He has since acquired the Diploma of Primary Care Dentistry from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI) and completed the RCSI Membership of the Faculty examinations.
Leonardo enjoys all areas of dentistry but has a particular interest in cosmetic dentistry and minimally invasive techniques.

In addition to general restorative procedures Leonardo places a strong emphasis on prevention to help his patients achieve and maintain optimal oral health. Leonardo speaks English and Spanish. He’s committed to his Continuing Professional Development (CPD), regularly attending dental workshops and courses.

Dr. Hone was born and raised in Dublin and qualified from The Royal College of Surgeons In Ireland in Medicine in 1990. After completing his Internship, Dr. Hone returned to College to study Dentistry, qualifying with an Honors Degree from Trinity College Dublin in 1994.

He went on to train in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in the UK, where He achieved the Fellowships from the Royal College of Surgeons London Award in both – Dental Surgery and General Surgery – in 1997. Dr. Hone then began a three year Specialist Orthodontic Training Program at Guys Hospital London, completing his Specialist Orthodontic Training in 2002. At the same year, He was awarded a Membership in Orthodontics from Royal College of Surgeons Edinburgh.

Dr. Hone worked at St James Hospital Orthodontic Unit as a Specialist and was a Tutor in Orthodontics in the Dublin Dental Hospital from 2002 to 2006. He then worked in his own practice before joining the Smiles Dental Swords team in early 2020.

Dr. David Hone is part of the Specialist Orthodontist List of the Dental Council of Ireland and is a member of the Orthodontic Society of Ireland.

Dr. Chris Coakley is passionate about providing quality care to his patients. He regularly attends Continuing Professional Development lectures to understand the latest techniques and advances in dentistry. He has an interest in all aspects of dental care but particularly enjoys restorative and paediatric dentistry.

In 2019, Chris graduated from Trinity College Dublin with an honour’s degree in Dental Science. During his undergraduate degree, he completed a semester at the Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm, provided dental relief aid in the Caribbean Island of St. Vincent and presented at the Association for Dental Education in Europe.

Mohammed graduated in 1995 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree. He worked for many years in a general dental practice before commencing full-time training in oral medicine at Dublin Dental University Hospital, from which he graduated in 2004 with a master’s in Dental Surgery. In 2012, he was awarded a PhD in the same field from Trinity College Dublin.

Mohammed sees patients for all general dental treatments. His particular focus is on oral medicine; the diagnosis and management of chronic and recurrent conditions that affect the lining tissues of the mouth. This includes infections, blisters, ulcers, white and red patches/pre-cancerous lesions, non- dental orofacial pain and dry mouth.

Dr Elvira Ros qualified from University of Rey Juan Carlos, Madrid (Spain), in 2014.

She has a particular interest in aesthetic dentistry, minimally invasive procedures and believes prevention is always better than cure.

As a clinician, Dr Ros seeks to understand her patient’s needs, and works to create a welcoming space in the practice where patients feel comfortable and at ease. Her goal is to provide the highest levels of quality and service in the areas of dental care.

Dr Ros speaks English, Spanish and Romanian fluently and in her free time she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and reading.

Mollie-Ann graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2018 with honors and has been working in private practice in Dublin ever since.  She attained a post-graduate diploma in Primary Care Dentistry with the Royal College of Surgeons in 2019.

Training and qualifications: Dr Konstancja graduated from Wroclaw Medical University in Poland in 2017. While studying dentistry, she received the ‘Best Student’ award twice due to her academic achievements. During her studies she completed three international practicums in both Dublin and Budapest.

Before relocating to Ireland and joining Smiles Dental Grand Canal team in 2018, Dr Norman practised general dentistry in Poland.

Dr Ewelina Szkaradek trained at the Medical University of Lublin in Poland, graduating in 1993. Prior to joining the Smiles Dental Grand Canal Square practice in 2017, Dr Szkaradek practiced general dentistry for over 20 years. Dr Szkaradek puts compassion and patient comfort at the centre of her practice, and has a special interest in working with patients who may be nervous coming to see the dentist. Dr Szkaradek also continues her professional development, and enjoys practicing endodontics and restorative dentistry. She is also a qualified Invisalign Go provider, and enjoys helping her patients feel more confident and comfortable showing off their new smiles after treatment.

Dr Haitham Bashara has a strong interest in dental implant treatment, wisdom tooth extraction and dental tissue procedures such as root resection and tooth hemisection. He also has a keen interest in gingivectomy and gingivoplasty, involving gum tissue removal, and periodontal treatment and surgery.

In 1999, Haitham qualified with honours from the Tripoli Dental School and Hospital in Libya. In 2005, he completed his master’s degree in Periodontology and Implantology from Dublin Dental University Hospital, Trinity College, and in 2013, he received his PhD in Periodontology and Implantology from Trinity College Dublin. During his career, Haitham has taught postgraduate students in Ireland, Libya and Bahrain and he’s currently a trainer for the Membership in Advanced General Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Master Dental Science Orthodontics year 1993

Anastasios graduated from the Dental School of Athens, Greece in 1986, before completing a three-year master’s programme in orthodontics at Lund University, Sweden in 1993. His experience includes working in private practice and at Health Service Executive, Dublin, for eight years, where he treated patients with a variety of severe malocclusions. He continues to be amazed at the results that modern orthodontic treatments can achieve. Anastasios has developed a patented technique using orthodontic implants or micro screws to correct crowding, without needing to extract teeth. His technique won an international award for novelty from Primary Care Trust in 2014.

Lead Nurse

Dr. Dermott qualified from Trinity College Dublin with an honours degree in 1984. He spent a short period working in the United States before relocating to a practice in the UK to work with Dr. Garry Heavy. He then set up his own practice in the UK before subsequently returning to Ireland in 1990, re-establishing the Sandymount Dental Clinic.

Over the next 11 years along with running his practice Dermot worked as a part-time Clinical Tutor in the Dublin Dental Hospital.

Over the subsequent 17 years Sandymount Dental Clinic continued to expand. With the dedicated assistance of his loyal team, a reputation of dental excellence and care within the local community and far, was well established.

Since then Tom has completed an array of cases from simple single unit implant retained crowns to more complex multi-unit cases. Dr Yusuf Patel graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 1982. On completion of his studies he spent 12 months working and travelling in South Africa where he was born. In 1983 he moved to England where he worked in an NHS practice for four years. During this time he yearned for the African sun and returned to Cape Town where he lived for the next 12 years. His time there was spent both in private practice and teaching undergraduate dentistry at the University of Western Cape. In 1999 Yusuf moved to England and worked in general practice. He has now relocated to Ireland joining Smiles Dental and enjoys carrying out all aspects of dentistry.

Salma did her Bachelors of Science and graduated from Bahuddin Zakariya University, Pakistan with honours. She practiced general dentistry with special interest in orthodontics and did her post graduate diploma in orthodontics. She has done certification in cryosurgery (periodontology) from Oregon Health and Science University USA. She has gained the qualification in the Membership of Faculty of Dental Surgery with the Royal College of Surgeons of Ireland.

Salma is also a qualified provider of Six Months Smiles, Inman Aligners, Fast Braces and Dento Correct (clear Braces). She enjoys all aspects of general dentistry.

Orla is our practice manager. Having worked as a practice manager in Canada for a number of years, she joined Smiles Orthodontics Dublin team in September 2017. Responsible for the day-to-day running of the clinic, she believes the most important part of her job is to ensure all patients are comfortable and confident in the practice. She looks forward to meeting and greeting both new and existing patients, and witnessing the confidence and joy that a newly enhanced smile brings to each person.​

Louise is Practice Manager of Gate clinic Smiles Dental in Galway. Louise has worked in the Smiles Group since 2008 firstly as Practice manager in our Middle St practice in Galway and then as Field Support Manager responsible for eight of our dental practices across the country. Louise took the position as Practice Manager in The Gate clinic in June 2017 and is excited to be part of this unique practice.

Dr Jamie O Doherty (BDS) is from Killarney, Ireland. He joined the Smiles Dental Grand Canal Square practice in 2022 as a general dentist.

Jamie completed his bachelor’s degree in dentistry at University College Cork in 2016. During his studies, he achieved the title of College Scholar for excellent academic results. Since then, he has enjoyed working as an associate dentist in different parts of Dublin, including Swords and Clonshaugh, as well as Bray in County Wicklow.

As a dentist, Jamie delivers patience and understanding to patient difficulties and issues. He likes to explain treatments to patients in clear terms to gain mutual understanding, and feels that any relaxed, easy-going trip to the dentist comes through knowledge. Jamie has completed certification in both Philips Zoom in-office whitening and Enlighten Smiles Evolution Whitening. He has also completed a course in aesthetics with Dr Monik Vasant.

Niall graduated from U.C.C. in 1997 and thereafter worked in England for over a decade and later Australia before returning to settle in Cork. He has a keen interest in all areas of general dentistry. Post graduate courses and qualifications completed include; Aesthetic and Restorative Dentistry over one year in London and a Diploma in Endodontology at the University of Chester. Niall enjoys treating anxious patients and restoring their oral health.

Dr. Ebenezer Thomas is an experienced and attentive dentist providing a range of treatments, including cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery and teeth straightening, to patients at Smiles Dental Dun Laoghaire.

Katie graduated in Hungary in 2008 as a Dental Hygienist. She is a qualified Dental Nurse and Dental Technician. With over nine years of experience Katie has extensive expertise and is highly adaptable. Katie’s mission is to help the dentist and provide a supportive and friendly atmosphere for our patients. Our aim at Smiles Dental Limerick to create a pleasant dental experience and to ensure our patients feel relaxed during their visit.

Dental Surgeon at Smiles Dental Gate Clinic, Galway

Brian is a highly experienced and accomplished General Dental Practitioner. He qualified from the University of Wales College of Medicine in 2000. After a few years of hospital appointments and NHS Dentistry in Cardiff he moved to Bristol where he started his career in private dental practice. This led him to work in several private practices throughout Europe before settling in Ireland. His expertise includes root canal treatment, Crown & bridgework, implants, difficult teeth extractions including third molar removal and treatment of the dental phobic patient including young children.

Chiara Vesentini

Chiara is our orthodontic nurse. She joined the Smiles orthodontics team in December 2016. She is originally from Italy and has three years experience as a dental nurse working in different dental specialties. Chiara is very patient and caring and always does her best to put her patients at ease.

Mairead is a qualified dental nurse started at the practice in 2001. She left the practice for a number of years but returned in 2007 as Head Receptionist. She leads a team who are committed to giving the highest possible patient care to ensure that all patients are at ease during their visit.

Highly experienced and knowledgeable in all aspects of dental work, our practice manager Ann, provides liaison between staff and patients. She has overall responsibility for the non-clinical areas. She is especially keen that your experience of our practice should be positive and rewarding. Ann has worked at the dental surgery for over 25 years and will be happy to answer any queries you may have.

David qualified from Queens University Belfast in 2006. He completed a year long certificate in Advanced Aesthetic Dentistry at the Eastman Institute London in 2010. He is in addition a member of the Irish Dental Association, the Association of Dental Implantology and a member of the Irish Association of Aesthetic Dentists. David has recently been successful in his postgraduate examinations leading to the additional qualification and Membership of the Joint Dental Faculties of the Royal College of Surgeons in England [MJDF RCS (Eng)]. He has a special interest in Dental Implants. Outside work, he is a keen sportsman, his main interest being waterpolo.

Orla graduated with Honours from Trinity College, Dublin in 1997. She worked for a short period with the HSE in Kilkenny before returning to her hometown, Dundalk and joining the practice in 1998.
Orla is a member of the Irish Dental Association and the Irish Faculty of Primary Dental Care. She is highly committed to continuing education and attends regular dental courses and meetings.

Declan graduated from Queens University, Belfast in 1977. He returned to his home town of Dundalk in 1978 and opened The Dental Surgery at 6 Dublin Street. Over the years he has been very active in promoting post graduate education for dentists in practice. He has also been deeply involved in development of dentistry in Ireland and is a past President of the Irish Dental Association.
Declan has a keen interest in cosmetic dentistry and is a regular attendee at courses and seminars on this subject. He is also a member of the Irish Faculty of Primary Dental Care.

Dentist

Originally from Spain, Cristina has been working in different countries such as Sweden, Chile and most recently Ireland. She qualified in Dentistry from the University of Seville in Spain and the University of Malmo in Sweden. She has a masters degree in Dentistry for Special Needs Patients and Oral Surgery and a Diploma of Aesthetic Composite Rehabilitation. Cristina takes a special interest in caring for nervous patients and can offer sedation options. Cristina will take the time to explain your treatment to you in full.

Dr. Khalid Alfarsi is an accomplished specialist orthodontist with an impressive array of qualifications, holding 11 prestigious credentials in the field of orthodontics.

Dr Alfarsi earned his dental degree from University College Cork and went on to complete a three-year postgraduate program in orthodontics, where he also obtained a master’s degree in the same specialty. His qualifications span multiple royal colleges, including the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, England, Glasgow, and Edinburgh.

He also holds diplomas such as the MFDS (Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery) and M ORTH (Membership in Orthodontics) from RCSEng & RCPS Glasgow & RCSEd and RCSI Ireland, as well as the highly regarded FFD (ORTHO) (Fellowship in Orthodontics) and RCSI in Ireland. Additionally, Dr. Alfarsi is a board-certified orthodontist making him one of the highest qualified professionals in his field in Ireland.

Dr Alfarsi is registered on the specialist list in orthodontics with the Dental Council of Ireland, affirming his expertise and dedication to his profession.

Outside of work, Dr. Alfarsi is passionate about football, playing up to four times a week, and is an avid supporter of Liverpool FC.

Sam has been in customer service for approximately 20 years. She is very patient and caring when dealing with her patients. Sam is our Lead Receptionist and always does her best to make her patients feel at ease, providing guidance and leadership. She will always be on site making sure our patients have the best quality service.

Practice Manager Bernadett is originally from Hungary and has been living in Ireland for the last nine years. She is also qualified as a midwife and health care assistant. After having a child just a year ago, she returned to work with Smiles Dental when it opened in Limerick. As a people person, she enjoys working at reception and making sure patients feel cared for and listened to. In her hometime, she likes to spend time with her baby and with friends and family.

Dr Pawel Muszynski gained a master’s degree in General Dentistry from the Medical University of Lodz, Poland, in 2012. He has a strong interest in preventative dentistry, such as check-ups, X-rays and scale and polish treatments. Pawel joined Smiles Dental Balbriggan in 2016 and enjoys helping maintain and improve his patients’ oral health.

A Cork woman, Julia graduated in 2012 from UCC. She then spent the next period of her life in Cornwall in the NHS, working as a general dentist. She left there to return to Ireland in 2015. Julia keeps up to date in the trends in dentistry with regular CPD and maintains her professional development with dental workshops. Outside of dentistry, Julia loves Six Nations rugby, dancing and the theatre. She hasn’t any strong feelings about hurling!

Natasha has been with Smiles Dental since 2006 and has been Practice Manager at Smiles Dental Tallaght since 2007. Natasha’s main responsibility is to ensure that all patients are 100% comfortable and happy during their visit and satisfied with their treatment before leaving the practice. Natasha’s duties also include ensuring that the clinic runs smoothly day to day.

Dr Greg Cullen is a dentist working with Smiles Dental, providing a range of treatments including prosthodontics, teeth straightening and restorative dentistry.

Dr Greg Cullen B.D.S graduated in 2005 from Queens University Belfast.

 Greg completed his vocational training year in Edinburgh, then worked for three years in Derry in general practice before spending a year in Australia bringing dentistry to the rural communities of Northern Queensland.

Greg spent the next five years working in the NHS and private practice in Manchester. Here he honed his skills in prosthodontics, achieving a Certificate in Cosmetic and Restorative Dentistry from the University of Central Lancashire before moving back to Ireland and joining Smiles Dental in 2015.

Greg has a varied interest in many fields of dentistry including short term orthodontics (six month smiles) and treating anxious patients. He hopes to advance his enthusiasm in dental implants in the coming years.

Dr Arkan Al-Qudsi graduated from the University of Tuebingen in 2007. He then spent seven years in general dentistry in Germany, before moving to a focus on dental implants and surgical practice.
He completed two years of postgraduate training in Oral Implantology at the German Society of Implantology DGI and was awarded his diploma. He is certified as a laser safety officer in the use of dental lasers for treatments such as root canal, gum and surgical laser treatment.

Dr Laima Gylyte graduated from the University of Vilnius, Lithuania in 2009. Since then, she has worked in both private and public sectors in Lithuania and Ireland. Dr Laima has attended various postgraduate training courses such as training in aesthetic dentistry, endodontics and surgical dentistry. She feels it is essential to keep up to date with modern dental knowledge and regularly attends training courses. She likes all aspects of general dentistry and her favourite aspect of her job is working with patients to achieve the best results for them. She is also excellent at treating nervous patients.

Ciara Power has been a member of the team at Smiles Dental Waterford since 2012. She graduated as a dental nurse from University College Cork in 2014 and has also completed a course in Dental Radiography. She is comfortable with all aspects of dental treatments including orthodontics and implantology.

In 2017 Ciara took on the position of Practice Manager at Smiles Dental Waterford and loves to welcome new patients into the practice.

Inga Misiute began working at Smiles Dental in 2012 as a trainee dental nurse. In 2013 after successfully passing her examinations she gained the National Certificate for Dental Nurses and achieved her goal to become a qualified dental nurse. Inga enjoys the fact that she can continually learning new skills and is currently studying radiology, making her job all the more interesting. She loves her work and the interaction she has with her patients, being able to make a patient’s journey a pleasant one gives Inga great satisfaction. In her spare time she enjoys photography, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.

Dr Fareenaa Hameed is from India and qualified as a dentist from Karnatak University in 2000. After moving to Ireland in 2008, she began working in different private practices around Dublin. Fareenaa enjoys performing general, emergency and cosmetic dentistry with a keen interest in root canal treatment and extractions.

Dentistry is Fareenaa’s passion and she’s very interested in treating anxious patients and patients of all ages. She is very committed to continued education programs and an member of IDA.

Dr Carla Navarro qualified from University of Valencia, Spain, in 2011. She then dedicated one year to being a volunteer dentist in an NGO and has worked in well-known practices in Spain and Ireland. She has an enthusiastic approach to dental care and likes to be up-to-date with the latest developments in dentistry. She has a particular interest in aesthetic dentistry, minimally invasive procedures and adhesive techniques. She has attended many multidisciplinary courses and workshops during the years.

Dr Navarro has achieved a great capacity for listening and communication when it comes to advising patients on their oral health and preventive measures. In a relaxed environment her goal is to provide the highest levels of quality and service in the areas of dental care. In her free time, Dr Navarro loves to Flamenco dance and travel.

Dr Deirdre Coghlan graduated from Trinity College Dublin in 2013 and joined the Smiles Dental team in Tallaght in February 2014. She enjoys all aspects of dentistry especially helping nervous patients overcome their fear of attending the dentist.

In June 2013 she was part of a group which was awarded the annual student award by the Irish Society for Disability and Oral Health for a project in the field of special care dentistry. Dr Coghlan loves to travel and has spent time in Central America where she worked as a dental volunteer in Honduras.

Dr Dimche Jordanov has been with the Smiles Dental team since 2014 and is originally from Veles in  Macedonia. He graduated from the University of Medicine Plovdiv (Bulgaria) in 2010 with a Masters of Dental Medicine qualification. Since this, Dr Jordanov has also completed the following post graduate courses:

– All on 4 immediately loading at Eastman University in the UK
– Perio + PerioImplantitis and GBR graft and soft tissue at the University of Bern in Switzerland
– Advance courses on soft tissue and bone at the University of Vienna

Dr Jordanov is fluent in the following languages: Macedonian, Bulgarian, Bosnian, Serbo-Croatian and English.

Dr Patricia Nalewajska graduated from the Medical University in Wroclaw, Poland in 2002. She joined the Smiles Dental team in 2006 after previously working in Poland, she has a special interest in endodontics and all forms of aesthetic dentistry. Patricia is also a qualified provider of the Six Month Smiles orthodontic treatment.

Dr Patrick Traynor graduated with honours from Queen’s University Belfast in 2002, having obtained a first class honours degree in anatomy in 2000. After graduating he worked in a private practice in Belfast before moving to Omagh in 2006. Dr Traynor has always strived to provide the best possible quality treatment for all his patients. He has attended dental conferences and training courses in California, Nevada, Austria and South Africa. He has also completed Dr Eddie Scher’s Osseo-integrated Implant Course and Advances Surgical Course in London, and is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists.

Dr Morgan O’Sullivan completed an Honours Science Degree in 2001 before embarking on a career in dentistry. He qualified from Manchester University in 2008 and worked for one year in a mixed private/NHS practice in the UK. He returned to Ireland in August 2009 and worked in a private practice in County Carlow before joining the Smiles Dental team in January 2011. Morgan especially likes treating nervous patients to reduce fear and dental phobia.

Dr Diarmuid Moloney graduated from Cork Dental School in 2007. He worked for three years in Scotland in a mixed NHS/private practice. While in Scotland, he completed a one-year Vocational Training course and his MFDS examinations at Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh. Diarmuid returned to Ireland in June 2010 and took up his position at Smiles Dental Wexford. Diarmuid especially enjoys endodontics (root canal treatment) and crown treatment.

Dr Kathleen Byrne qualified from Trinity College Dublin in 1990. Following a period of vocational training in the UK, Kathleen returned to Ireland and has worked as a dental associate since then at a small number of practices. Kathleen’s favourite aspect of the job is seeing a patient delighted with their results.

Dr Ann Gilligan studied Dentistry in University College Cork and graduated in 2003. Ann has been a member of the Smiles Dental Team for five years and has a keen interest in mandibular repositioning devices and adult cosmetic braces.

Dr Nausheen graduated from Fatima Jinnah Dental College in Pakistan in 2003 with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery. She spent three years in Pakistan in general practice before moving to Ireland. Dr Nausheen joined Smiles Dental in 2012. She enjoys performing general dentistry with a particular intrest in aesthetic dentistry. Dr Nausheen aims to provide the best dental care possible to her patients.

Dr Izabela Piotrowska is an experienced dentist and endodontist, working with our community of patients at Smiles Dental Bray.

Training and Qualifications: Dr Izabela Piotrowska graduated from Pomeranian University in Poland in 2008. She joined Smiles Dental Bray in 2010, where she has been able to gain experience in general dentistry over the last 13 years. In the years since graduation, Izabela has maintained an ongoing commitment to continuous professional development with a special interest in endodontics (root canal treatment).

Her interest and passion for endodontics encouraged her to enter the prestigious Microscopic Endodontics course in Warsaw in 2018. The skills achieved allowed her to provide endodontic treatment with the use of high magnification. In 2019, Izabela undertook advanced specialist training in endodontology at King’s College London Dental Institute. Subsequently, in 2021 Izabela was awarded her Master in Endodontics from Chester University, England.

Treatments offered: Since achieving her master’s, Izabela has been specialising in endodontics and accepting referrals from her colleagues. She is committed to provide professional and quality endodontics while using an evidence-based approach and contemporary techniques. Recently, Izabela has decided to expand her skills and explore the field of facial aesthetics. She completed a botulinum toxin training course to focus on treatment of bruxism as well as offering anti-wrinkle therapy.

Dr. Kostas Efthymiou, DDS, Dip. Orth, MSc (Orth)

Specialist Orthodontist

Dr. Kostas Efthymiou qualified as a dentist from the School of Dentistry of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece in 2001. He then worked in private general dental practice in England before pursuing his post-graduate orthodontic studies. In 2003, he started a three year full-time specialist training programme in Orthodontics at the School of Dentistry of Marmara University. In 2006 he received his Specialty Diploma in Orthodontics and was awarded a Master’s Degree in Orthodontics with Honours. Shortly after his graduation he earned the title of the Dental Specialty in Orthodontics in Greece. Since then, he has been in the exclusive practice of orthodontics.

Kostas is a Registered Specialist in Orthodontics (Irish Registration #4DS09) and has presented his research at the 83rd and 84th European Orthodontic Society Conferences in Berlin (2007) and in Lisbon (2008). He is currently a member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the Greek Orthodontic Society and the Orthodontic Society of Ireland and he is a Fellow of the World Federation of Orthodontists.

Kostas has been the principal orthodontist at Smiles Orthodontics since January 2009 and has build an excellent reputation for achieving first class results and providing high quality orthodontic care to his patients. He has extensive experience with the latest advances in orthodontics such as Damon® Braces, Invisalign® and Incognito™ Lingual Braces and he loves creating beautiful and healthy smiles that enhance his patients’ self-confidence and quality of life.

Dr Angelko Ashtalkoski (Angel)

Originally from Macedonia, Angel studied dental technology (Dental Technician) from 1999-2003 in Macedonia. He got his dental Masters degree in Dental Medicine in the Medical University Plovdiv, Bulgaria and graduated in 2009. Angel went on to work in private practice for two years and become part of our team in Smiles Dental in 2011.

Among his professional accomplishments, Angel completed the two-year course for advanced practical oclussion and restorative dentistry with Professor Paul Tipton. He is also a member of the British Academy of Restorative Dentistry (BARD). Angel prides himself on being highly skilled in aesthetic and restorative dentistry, and has a special interest in TMJ disorders and root canal treatments.

Dr Janusz Banasik is a specialist orthodontist providing a range of orthodontic treatments at Smiles Dental Dun Laoghaire.

TRAINING & QUALIFICATIONS
Dr Janusz received his undergraduate qualification from the University of Lodz in Poland in 1994 with distinction. He was awarded Master of Science in Orthodontics (with merit) by the University of Warwick (UK) and went on to acquire an M.Sc. in Clinical Periodontology from UCLAN (UK).

In 2023 and in recognition of Dr. Janusz’ scientific work, his research was accepted by the panel of reviewers for presentation during the Annual Congress of European Orthodontic Society.

The knowledge and experience gained from his postgraduate studies enables Dr. Janusz to treat a broad range of orthodontic patients, including children and patients with significantly reduced periodontal support (stable periodontal disease). Dr Joanna Szydlowska graduated in 2002 from The Medical University of Gdansk, Poland. After working in Poland for many years, Joanna joined Smiles Dental in 2007. Joanna’s favourite aspect of being a dentist is putting her patients at ease. Joanna also has a special interest in oral surgery implantology, aesthetic and prosthetic procedures. Joanna completed a Certificate in Implant Dentistry in 2009 at Warwick University and has recently graduated with a High Profile Diploma Degree in Implantology from The University of Manchester (UK).She is fully qualified to take on implant cases. She also has a Diploma in Clinical Dentistry issued by The Dublin Dental School and Hospital (2012’).

Dr Martin Robledo qualified in 2000 at the National University of Rosario, Argentina. Martin joined Smiles Dental in 2010 and his favourite part of being a dentist is establishing trust and trying to break the initial phobia related with the dental treatments. Martin loves listening to the patients and making them feel at ease, as he feels it is a great reward. Martin also enjoys all facets of general dentistry, especially oral surgery and root canal treatments.

Dr Dan Gruenfeld graduated from the University of Tuebingen in Germany in 2006 with first class honours. In 2015 he completed his three-year postgraduate studies in Periodontology and Peri-implant Therapy at the University of Freiburg in Germany with distinction. He currently focuses his work on periodontology, contemporary implant therapy and advanced restorative dentistry. In his quest to provide outstanding treatment for his patients, Dan incorporates the most modern techniques and digital procedures such as guided implant surgery and minimal invasive surgical protocols to ensure a least traumatic patient journey to their perfect smile.

From a single tooth restoration to full mouth rehabilitations, Dan offers a large spectrum of contemporary treatment options. He specially enjoys solving challenging cases involving a multidisciplinary approach. Dan is an active member of the ‘Irish Association of Aesthetic Dentistry’ and a regular attendee of national and international conferences on Periodontology and Implant dentistry. Dan has been working with the Smiles Dental team since 2010 and is offering a broad variety of referral based treatment and clinical support for his colleagues within and outside of the group.

Dr Liam O’Sullivan qualified from University College Cork, (NUI) in 1981 and practiced in the UK in general practice for a number of years. On returning to Ireland, he set up a private practice in 1990, offering routine, advanced restorative, cosmetic dentistry and orthodontics. This included the taking of continuing professional education courses in all of these areas including post-graduate studies in Trinity College Dublin.

The greatest problem facing the general dentist is the cosmetic/aesthetic replacement of lost or very damaged teeth. Therefore, a fascination with the possibilities offered in the use of dental implants to permanently replace missing teeth took hold in 2004. “This emerging area of dentistry can provide solutions and aesthetic results that could only be dreamed of when I first qualified.” There followed a series of courses in Europe, culminating in studies for the Diploma in Implant Dentistry, at the Royal College of Surgeons of England in London. Liam has been working with Smiles Dental at Waterloo Road, since 2011.

Dr Michael Koukoulis graduated in 2003 from the University of Glasgow (Scotland). Following completion of his vocational training in the UK, Michael joined the army for a year where he worked as a Dental Officer. In 2006, Michael completed postgraduate training in Dental Implantology from the University of Warwick (UK) and since then his area of interest lies primarily with the provision of dental implant restorations. Michael is also a qualified provider of the Six Month Smiles orthodontic treatment and a dental implant specialist. Michael has been a member of the Smiles Dental Team from its humble beginnings and he’s proud to have seen it grown to the largest dental care provider in the country.

In 2006, Dr. Ali Afrasiabi qualified from Trinity College Dublin with a bachelor’s degree in Dental Science. He has also gained an MSc in Endodontics from King’s College London, which he completed with distinction.

Since graduating, Ali has worked in private practice and completed dentistry courses in implant dentistry, restorative dentistry and endodontics. He keeps up-to-date with the latest techniques and clinical protocols in dentistry.
