If you have recently lost your teeth or have been missing them for a long time, our job as your dentist is to consider which of many options will give you the best result. The loss of your teeth also results in the loss of bone that used to surround your teeth. The changes in face shape result from the loss of support for the lips and the muscles of the face as the gums shrink. The continued bone loss and change of the height, the width and the volume of the bone make this an ever changing problem to deal with. Remember every patient is unique and every solution is customised to suit.
Dental Implant Denture Options
Dentures and Dental Implant Solutions
If you have arrived at the point where you are losing the remainder of your teeth and you have chosen to replace them with a full denture, the initial denture will be fitted the same day that you remove the last teeth. We promise to keep you smiling.
Although acrylic (plastic) dentures are always an initial option and often chosen following the loss of teeth, we would always recommend chrome cobalt dentures.
Not everyone is comfortable with full plastic dentures. The fit at best can only be as good as the shape of the gums. If there is insufficient gums there will be inadequate grip. The easiest way to better this, is to place dental implants to snap or fit the dentures onto two or four or six dental implants. We will assess and advise you what will work for you.
