Keep smiling at Electric Picnic 2017

The wait is over! Electric Picnic kicks off tomorrow! Thousands of people will descend on Stradbally for the biggest party of the year. While you’re having the time of your life watching the crem de la crem of Irish and international artists, it’s important to look after yourself. And that includes your teeth. So here are some easy tips to make sure your smile doesn’t come back worse for wear from Electric Picnic 2017.

Electric Picnic Festival Guide for rocking teeth!

It’s an obvious one, but don’t forget to pack your toothbrush!

Let’s face it, during a trip to Electric Picnic you’d be forgiven for having a tipple or two…or three! With the increased consumption of alcohol and disruption of eating patterns it is even more vital that you look after your teeth by brushing twice a day for at least two minutes. Do not forget your toothbrush!

Drink lots of water!

Irish weather is a fickle beast, but we’re all hoping for lashings of sunshine this weekend. We’re outside and exposed to the elements a lot more during outdoor festivals, so it’s important to stay well hydrated. Drinking water straight after meals and snacks has been shown to help remove acids from the mouth. This reduces the effects of dental decay.

Sharing is not caring

You can share a tent, a beer, a poncho… many things. But please, do not share your toothbrush. Even if that one friend who always forgets things has forgotten theirs.

Look after your toothbrush so it can look after you

Storing your toothbrush safely and properly can have a big effect on your dental health with issues like cross contamination and bacterial growth amplified by a heaving festival crowd. Keep your toothbrush in a sealed plastic bag.

Bring gum, lots of gum

Chewing sugar-free gum helps protect your teeth and gums in between meals when it may not be possible to brush. By encouraging the production of saliva chewing sugar-free gum can help to lower acid attacks that happen after eating and drinking.
